As an important part of our work to help young women in Rwanda, it is vital that people in the UK understand the backdrop of our fundraising efforts. Rwanda has a complex history and some of the challenges it faces today are as a result of the 1994 genocide. Consequently, we also devote time to supporting the Rwandan community in the UK and educating about Rwanda’s history, including each year commemorating the 1994 genocide. This gives opportunity for us all to reflect upon the devastating events of that time so that we can learn from them and help our beneficiaries in Rwanda to escape the effects that those times have had on society.
If you are interested in further education about the Rwandan genocide of 1994, we have a considerable number of resources we can share from our ‘Keeping Memories’ project. If you would like access to this, please do contact us.
