rYico Presents “Twibuke” “Let Us Remember”

rYico’s held a tribute evening to commemorate the 1994 Rwandan Genocide. The evening included an exhibition of photography of rYico’s work at Centre Marembo and crafts from a Rwandan womens cooperative “Gayaha Links.” The evening provided an opportunity to learn more about the events leading up to the genocide, paid tribute to those who were lost and supported those who are still dealing with the after-effects.

The dramatic film by Rwandan filmmaker Eric Kabera, who witnessed the genocide, was shown. ‘100 Days’ is a story of love and betrayal, and while it is a fictional account of a family in the Kibuye province of Rwanda, it is set among the backdrop of actual events surrounding the genocide and contains actual footage from 1994.
